Calling all BFG players!

Postby World Bleeder on Wed Nov 19, 2008 12:37 am

I am just wondering if there are any BFG players besides me here? I just began a new campaign that kelsik (who is on the board but very busy in RL atm) devised. We totally threw out the BFG campaign rules and created our own. He has posted them on a couple of BFG sites but gotten no feed back as most of the BFG community sucks.

I have pics from our first weekend of games which I will post ASAP.

Yea, I have a BFG Chaos fleet that weighs in at about 2000pts.

So far out of about a half dozen games I've never lost, and even better, I've never lost a ship  Whever someone gets close to being destroyed I always manage to disengage them. That's what I like about Gothic - you can flee the battlefield and still win by just inflicting more damage - not everything is a bitter fight to the death!

I can field:

1 despoiler class battleship (I think that's the one - the one with loads of launch bays)
1 Repulsive class Grand Cruiser
1 Hades Heavy Cruiser
1 Murder (against Eldar I use a carnage however)
2 Slaughters
2 Devestations

As you can see, I have no escorts. I think suck, and so far I have yet to be proven wrong. That, and the idea of losing a ship of 1000+ crew that is over a kilometer long just feels wrong - I'm a conservative when it comes to ships ;)

I've only played a couple of demo games, but after reading the fleet lists in full, I fell in love with the Styx class. That many launch bays sounds perfect for a Khorne fleet. Hooray for HtH in deep vacuum!

That's a nice fleet list Blood_Princess. You definately can handle all comers with that. Most Chaos players I've ever seen don't use escorts. I even read an article years ago in a White Dwarf that said that Chaos escorts aren't that useful and a waste of points compared to other fleets. My good friend plays Tau and his escorts can take out one of my crusisers easily but I couldn't do the same for sure without crusier support.

We just started a new campaign actually. He put together his own campaign rules, in our opinion the rules they introduced for playing BFG campaigns are horrible. He implemented a rule for the campaign that you can't have more crusiers than escorts, not to give himself an advantage but in the idea that in "real" space warfare you most likely would have more cruisers than escorts. In my first match up I faced the Imperium though I did lose a cruiser it managed to go super nova at a great time and destroyed one damaged Imperial cruiser and severely damage another which I finished off. It was a great battle.

I play my Chaos fleet very aggressively though trying to get in and use teleport attacks and boarding actions and if possible ramming.

@Skyzerker, I like the styx class too.

I have over 4000 points and my fleet consists of:
1 Desolator
1 Despoiler
1 Repulsive
1 Acheron
1 Hades
1 Styx
1 Slaughter
1 Murder
2 Carnage
2 Devastation
6 Iconoclast
6 Infidel
3 Idolator
1 Planet Killer
1 Blackstone Fortress

I also have collected 2000 point fleets over the years of Tyranid, Necron and Imperial.
A good leader inspires by example but if that fails brutal violence works just as well.

ok Heres the second immage
Image

the campain is set up in 14 systems.
each system is defended by a task force of about 500-1000 pts,

Each Tau and chaos task forces are based on 500-750 for a rounded task force,
Our total fleets are devided into taskforces were no ship ( model ) can be repeated in another task force

In the first pic in the last post Angor sent task force 1 and 3 to engage in system Beta Felis that was defended by a imperial task force.
Obviously Chaos has the upper hand in total fleet numbers and is expected to win the fight.
As the imperial player it is in his interest to make the traitors victory as costly as possible.
Im pleased to say I did, killed 3 escorts and 1 devestaion cruiser.

Agnor splits up his force around a gas cloud. Imerial cobras line up for a torpedo attack that will kill 2 escorts and force traitor cruiser to turn away from icomming vollies over 2 turns. Mars and gothic cruisers combined fire damages devestation

I though I had more shots in my album, Ill have to upload them later tonite.

For now heres a shot of The Tau combined fleet

Only the red fleet is currently bieng used in campain, but new ships are bieng build to replace all loses

You could try the UK site or any of the others, too, depending on where you live.

Yep that is a nice thing about the Specialist games, all the rules are free for down load. The rules for the campaign though were created by Kelsik himself.

I had many huge BFG fleets. Imp was my biggest, but mainly because my imp playing friend died, and I was bequithed it.
sadly, that, my chaos fleet, my dark eldar fleed, my ork fleet, and my necron fleet all disapeared when I got divorced...

altogether I had over 80,000 pts of BFG, and a big tub of space terrain. I loved BFG.
