That looks great Tom! Really good color scheme, look forward to seeing the display board and the rest of the cans.
A good leader inspires by example but if that fails brutal violence works just as well.

Armies on Parade is today. I'll post pics when I return from the event.
Until them, here are pics of the terrain items I'll include on my display:

Ruin 2:

I have added another propaganda poster to this smaller ruin but don't have a good pic of it. Hopefully I
can take one at the event.

It is my first time painting any type of rust and I'm satisfied with the results. I'm not sure I would want to paint
an entire building set or vehicle with this type of rust scheme, but for the barricades, it works just fine.

Thanks,
Tom

Last Saturday was the world wide Armies on Parade event at GW store locations. I had decided earlier this year to
enter my Orks this year. I have been painting them during my lunch hours at work and have over 1300pts painted so far. I have completed the units separately and I have never set the models up all at once. The Armies on Parade is specifically to "show off" what you have been working on, so it seemed the perfect event to see my Orks as a group.

The rules are fairly simple. The display board can be anything you want as long as you meet the size requirements. Specifically, the board can be no larger than 24" by 24" and may be as tall as you want. The models you include do not have to conform to a 'legal' army list.

I knew I was not going to put out something overly complex with the display board. I've never built a display board before. I have lots of Cities of Death models but have never painted one before. The AoP event provided a reason to attempt those tasks.

My ruins on the display board:

My display board pre-judging:

Games were being played at the store, so we set up our displays under the tables until it was time for judging.

Once all the entries were up and everyone had taken all the pictures they wanted, everyone in the store got to vote. Each person had one vote and you could not vote for your own entry.

We used a scatter die to vote, placing the die near the entry we voted for.

This shows my vote total...3 votes!!! Whooo! I'm really happy and humbled by this. Three people thought my entry was worthy enough to receive their vote. It's a huge vote of confidence and gives me a great deal of satisfaction for the work I put in on the Orks.

Ultimately, I did not win. I would have been in fourth place....if there had been a fourth place. Two entries received 5 votes each, third place had 4 votes and my entry received 3 votes. The other entries received 1 vote each or no votes. There were approximately 10-12 entries and they were all good.

For my first AoP entry, I am extremely pleased with the results. I did not expect to win and all I really wanted was to get one vote. I got three which is so exciting!

This post is long enough, so I'll put up a separate entry showing the other boards that I competed against.

Armies on Parade will be back again next year but there is a warning I must give....seeing all of the entries gives you so many ideas!! I'm toying with an idea involving Khorne Demons and a display board with a volcano on it....yikes!!!!! :o

Thanks,
Tom

Added a warbuggy to my forces.
This is the original kit which GW has yet to update. I did make some changes to it.
The rear has an extended platform for the engine to make room for the rear gunner.
Since this model came out during 2nd/3rd edition, the Orks are much smaller than
current Ork models. I replaced the gunner with a gunner from the Battlewagon kit.
The driver is the 2nd edition driver legs with a modern Ork torso and arms.

I mentioned the Battlewagon kit. I have one....wooooo! Over the Christmas holidays, my wife and I went to visit family in Las Vegas. While there, we did quite well at the casino we were staying at. Upon our return, in addition to pay some bills with our winnings, I was able to pick up an Ork Battlewagon, an Ork Trukk, a box of Boyz, a box of Lootas/Burnas and a Skull Cannon of Khorne for my Demons....it was like a 2nd Christmas!!!! I also have Grukk and a second unit of Killa Kans from the Sanctus Reach set to finish up. Of course, pics will be posted as things are completed. Working on the Battlewagon now.

Thanks,
Tom
